The Honorable Mauricio Arce, Piasa

Accomplice? Mastermind? Mauricio Arce Lara, CEO of family owned construction company PIASA Consultores, who played the small supporting role of a catholic priest at a funeral (how appropriate ...!!) in a Costa Rican movie, seems to be intimately related to the massive fraud his brother and lawyer Jorge Arce Lara committed, according to the prosecutor's office.
Jorge Arce Lara has been indicted on seventeen counts of fraud against expats, causing irreparable damage and existential misery to us the victims. In one of the major cases in the ongoing trial, a document signed by Mauricio Arce Lara has been presented in which he certifies that all mortgage certificates his brother Jorge Arce Lara tricked from us the victims are in custody of PIASA, do not circulate and shall be returned to the victims, which turned out to be utterly false, since some of the certificates were already circulating at the time of signature of said document. Just a lie or complicity with his brother Jorge Arce Lara? We are convinced of latter!
Where did all the money go that the Arces cashed in on the mortgage certificates stolen from lawyer Jorge Arce Lara's clients? Did they invent a sneaky financing of Mauricio Arce Lara's construction company PIASA? Was PIASA Consultores near bankruptcy and desperately needed a cash injection to remain afloat, even by illegal means? We'll find out. In a corrupt environment like Costa Rica, trials are often a never ending story, especially when the so called "elite" is involved, but in the end justice will prevail, and it won't be pretty for Mauricio Arce Lara and PIASA.
